PROOF is our Wednesday night faith formation program for Middle School and High School youth that runs from September to April. The program was named by our Youth Council because our gathering is PROOF that Christ is living among teenagers today, empowering teens to seek Christ in everyday life and live as disciples of Christ in the world. PROOF Schedule & Topics Sept. 22 - PROOF: Welcome Night Bring a new friend next week and receive a complimentary drink at the ROCK Cafe. Sept. 29 - PROOF: God Make Known Disciples at Home
The Point: We can come to know something of God through the created world, especially humans. This points to a source and reality far greater than creation—our God who is present and active in our world and in our lives.
Talk about it! Ask family members to describe how they would find God in the imaginary game of hide-and-seek.
Act on it! During the next two weeks, have family members post a sticky note on the refrigerator naming where they saw God.
Oct. 4 & 10 - GIFT Oct 6 - Ministry Team Meetings ( No PROOF ) Oct. 13 - PROOF: Communion of Saints Disciples at Home
The Point: We are called to be a communion of love and concern, women and men modeling true discipleship.
Talk about it! The next time you are watching a TV show with your family, keep your eyes and ears open for someone acting saintly. After the show, ask your family who acted saintly. See if they caught on to it, too.
Act on it! Thank a family member who acted like a saint for you. Oct. 20 - PROOF: Honoring Mary Disciples at Home
The Point: We celebrate Mary as Blessed Mother, the perfect disciple, the first saint, and our model of faith, hope, and love.
Talk about it! Ask your family members, "What does Mary mean to you?"
Act on it! Bring a new awareness into your household of following Jesus with your "whole heart." Together create a heart—a cutout or a mosaic collage, any form you choose—and display it in your home where each family member will see it and be reminded that each family member gives his or her whole heart to Jesus. Oct. 27 - PROOF: Scripture and Tradition Disciples at Home
The Point: In Scripture and the Tradition of the Church, we see who God is and who God calls us to be. Scripture and Tradition are the source and guide for our relationship with God and others.
Talk about it! Ask your parents what their first memory of Church is. What is the first Bible story they learned? Who told it to them?
Act on it! Choose two of the following from the Tradition of the Church and make it a point to find out more about them within the next seven days: The Catechism of the Catholic Church; the structure of the Mass; Vatican Council II; On Christian Love (Deus Caritas Est) by Pope Benedict XVI, 2005; Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics, U.S. Catholic Conference, 1998.
